Today in Congress- Sunning on the 12th hole!

Being a Congressmen is supposed to be one of the hardest jobs in the country, at least that's what they say. However, according to the website that was attached, Congress took the day off. Personally, I have mixed feelings to this. Congress does deserve breaks at times since, I would like to presume, they work long hours. What concerns me though is, if there is not a glitch in the website, that they have not worked since Thursday the 21st. A 5 DAY WEEKEND WHILE THE REST OF THE NATION ONLY HAD A 3 DAY WEEKEND?!?! Say it ain't so Congress! In my opinion, they deserve a pay cut for not working.

The best example of why Congress should not be receiving a 5 day weekend is that, we are in the midst of an economic crisis. The citizens of this country need to know that their leaders are working hard at what they do in order to better their lives. It seems that Congress has forgotten that the unemployment rate is the highest it has been in decades and that unlike nearly 8% of America, they have a job and should be happy about it.

Additionally, this country has a number of issues that could be worked on; immigration, social security, and other various issues. The fact is, they signed up for what they did, they worked their butts off to get elected. Shouldn't they be doing what they signed up for, not sunning themselves at Martha's Vineyard? In a country of almost 350 million people, I'm sure there is some sort of injustice that is being done to someone that Congress could fix. So fix it!

Finally, there is this bad thing called a war happening in two countries that we are involved in. In this war, American servicemen and women are getting killed. They eat crappy MRE's, receive Ibruprofren for broken fingers, have blisters on their feet, and work EVERY day while in a combat zone. Most of them probably hate the conditions, however, they love what they do. They love the fact that their country is depending on them and they will do ANYTHING to ensure its security. They receive low paying wages and the healthcare is not what it's all cracked up to be. But they do it because they love their country and are true patriots. Soooo Congress.... where's your work ethic? We don't see you working EVERYDAY. The Iraq and Afghanistan War's are considered crisises by some. Well Congress, the country is in a crisis, it's time you pull your weight, do your job, and quit going golfing while the only type of golfing servicemen are doing is the type you do with an M240G (Phoenetic G is gulf for all you non-military types) machine gun.
