Good evening,
I am from Romeoville, IL in Will County. My State Senator is Arthur J. Wilhelmi (D) and State Representative is Emily McAsey (D) according to the Illinois State Board of Elections website.
State Representative McAsey is currently apart of the following committees: Aging; Approp-Elementary & Secondary Education; Judiciary II - Criminal Law; State Government Administration; and Veterans' Affairs. According to the website she is a full-time State Representative; former criminal prosecutor in the Will County State’s Attorney’s office; former public middle-school teacher; she has a B.A. from the College of William and Mary; J.D., Loyola University Chicago School of Law; and she is married (husband, Craig). In addition, she is a new to Springfield and just introduced her first piece of legislation in February of this year. According to www.willcountrydemocrats.com she has vowed to be a representative that the public can trust. Also, she will support new tax reforms that will ensure that the "wealthy pay their fair share." But like I said, she's relatively new so only time will tell if she will fulfill any of her promises.
State Senator Wilhelmi is currenty apart of the following committess: Agriculture & Conservation (Vice-Chairperson); Sen. Comm. Whole; Appropriations II; Appropriations III; Housing & Community Affairs; and Local Government. Additionally, the website also says that he is an attorney; was born May 14, 1968; he has a B.A. (cum laude) Loyola University of Chicago; has a J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law; and he is married (wife, Michelle) with two children. In May 2008 State Senator Wilhelmi was named the Senior Healthcare Consultant of the law firm Murer Consultants, Inc. State Senator Wilhelmi has been serving in Springfield since January 2005. In April 2009 he also has helped pass legislation that came in the form of an $8 billion stimulus plan for the more than 600,000 unemployed Illinois residents. I tried to dig up some dirt on this guy but he seems to have fought the characteristic norm of some Illinois politicians, no scandals. Like Representative McAsey, I have never heard of him. He looks relatively young so I'm sure there is still some time left for him to get corrupted. Based on recent events in our state it seems inevitable.
This was the first time that I had ever heard of these two. Honestly, I had never taken that much of an interest in local politics until recently when my buddy's dad was elected as one of the town's trustees. He was telling about these new things that they were going to try and do in our town and it surprised me. I think I'll be keeping some tabs on these two now.
